🧠 Why Civic Sense Awareness is Crucial – Especially Among the Educated
We have been living in Rishikesh for the past three years — a place where the mainstream Ganga flows and lush green forests breathe life into every corner. This place is sacred, serene, and filled with natural beauty. But something heartbreaking is happening.
Ever since more people from outside started coming to this area, the pristine forest trails and Ganga banks are now littered with plastic. It’s disheartening to see educated people, tourists, and even locals say, “We don’t know who threw this trash,” while they themselves casually toss wrappers or bottles behind them.
Despite efforts by NGOs like Taoveda, who regularly collect and send plastic to MRF (Material Recovery Facility) centers, the volume of trash is rising. And when it becomes too much, people burn the plastic, thinking it’s the solution — unaware that this pollutes the air and releases toxic fumes.
📢 Why This is Alarming
Forests and rivers are not dumping grounds.
Plastic reaches animals in the jungle — deer, monkeys, even elephants — who mistake it for food and eventually suffer slow deaths.
Our Ganga, known for its purity, is being choked by human negligence.
🎓 Educated, But Not Aware?
It is shocking that even educated individuals — people who go to colleges, work respectable jobs, and have access to knowledge — often lack basic civic sense.
Civic sense is not about education; it’s about awareness and responsibility.
India needs a stronger focus on Civic Sense Education in Schools and Colleges. Cleanliness is not just a government duty — it’s everyone’s responsibility.
🌱 What Taoveda NGO is Doing
To address this issue, Taoveda NGO has launched a new campaign.
📛 Campaign Name Suggestion (Hindi & Rhythmic):
"Prakriti Ki Pukar – Na Feko Kachra Bahar"
(Translation: Nature's Call – Don’t Throw Trash Outside)
This campaign aims to spread awareness about:
The sacredness of nature
The harmful effects of plastic on wildlife and water
The importance of every person acting responsibly
🙏 हमारी अपील (Our Appeal)
💬 Final Message:
Let’s stop saying “someone else will clean it” or “it wasn’t me.”
Let’s say — “It’s my responsibility too.”
Let’s say — “I will not throw plastic. I will stop others too.”
Because civic sense begins with YOU.
And nature will stay pure only if we act.
