Rishikesh’s Clean Plastic collection Drives 2024-2025-2026
🛠️ Initiated By: Taoveda Dimensions NGO
📅 Started From: 2023 & Collected 100+kgs of clean plastic from different 50+ households from visthapit,Rishikesh and AIIMS on every first Thursday of every month.
🌟 Project Objective
Since 2023, Taoveda Dimensions NGO has been actively working to reduce plastic pollution in the Visthapit area, AIIMS surroundings, and nearby regions of Rishikesh.
The mission was started to tackle the growing problem of human-generated plastic waste polluting the Ganga River, forests, and nearby residential areas.
This initiative focused on:
✅ Creating awareness about plastic waste segregation
✅ Teaching people how to separate dry and wet waste properly
✅ Promoting clean plastic collection and safe storage methods
✅ Encouraging people to reduce single-use plastic
✅ Protecting soil, water, air, and wildlife from plastic pollution
✅ Building community participation for a cleaner and greener Rishikesh
📍 Scope of the Project
📍 Location:
Visthapit Area, AIIMS surroundings, and nearby Ganga River regions, Rishikesh
📈 Key Concerns:
🌳 Plastic waste was affecting nature and wildlife including deer, elephants, foxes, cows, dogs, and migratory birds such as Siberian ducks.
🚫 Improper disposal and burning of plastic waste were causing:
Soil pollution
Water pollution
Air pollution
Harm to animals and birds
Health risks for local communities
♻️ Taoveda Plastic Bank Initiative
To solve this issue, Taoveda Dimensions NGO introduced and promoted the Taoveda Plastic Bank.
Under this initiative:
People were educated about proper plastic segregation
Households were guided to keep plastic clean and dry before storage
Separate awareness sessions were conducted for children, women, and local families
Dry and wet waste segregation was explained practically
Many children participated very actively and became strong motivators in their homes and neighborhoods.
After seeing the children’s efforts, many women also joined and started collecting, cleaning, and storing plastic waste properly before handing it over to us.
This created a positive chain reaction in the community.
📦 Monthly Plastic Collection Impact
Through regular awareness drives and household participation:
♻️ Around 100 KG of plastic waste per month was collected from different households.
Instead of allowing this plastic to pollute nature, it was safely donated to different MRF (Material Recovery Facility) Centers for proper recycling and waste management.
This helped in:
✅ Saving soil from toxic pollution
✅ Protecting groundwater and the Ganga River
✅ Reducing harmful smoke caused by burning plastic
✅ Creating a cleaner and healthier environment
🤝 Community Participation
This drive became successful because of:
👧 Children leading by example
👩 Women actively contributing from households
🏘️ Local families supporting clean plastic storage
🚛 Waste collection support from local systems
The project proved that small actions by the community can create a big environmental impact.
🌍 Vision Forward
Our goal is not just plastic collection, but building a long-term culture of environmental responsibility.
Taoveda Dimensions NGO continues to work toward:
🌱 Plastic-free communities
🌊 Cleaner Ganga River
🌳 Safer forests and wildlife
♻️ Sustainable waste management practices
🤝 Stronger citizen participation for nature conservation
